MHFA India Launches First-Ever Feedback Report: A Step Towards Measurable Impact

MHFA India’s 2022 Feedback Report: Impact and Insights
We are proud to unveil the inaugural Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) India Feedback Report 2022, a significant milestone in our journey of transforming mental health education in the country. Since our inception in 2017, MHFA India has been committed to building mentally healthier communities through evidence-based training and early intervention. This report marks a new chapter in our efforts—one that is rooted in accountability, reflection, and measurable impact.
The 2022 Feedback Report presents data and insights from two of our flagship programs: the Blended Online Mental Health First Aid Course, along with face-to-face sessions and MHFA for the Suicidal Person. Both programs are designed to equip participants with practical skills and mental health literacy to support individuals experiencing mental health challenges—including those at risk of suicide.
The findings are encouraging. Participants reported increased confidence in identifying signs of distress, greater willingness to approach and support someone in need, and an enhanced understanding of mental health issues. These are foundational steps in creating a culture where mental health is prioritized alongside physical health—both in personal and professional spaces. India currently faces a mental health crisis. WHO’s 2021 report highlights that we have the highest suicide rate in Southeast Asia. Despite growing awareness, stigma continues to be a major barrier to help-seeking. In this context, community-level mental health education and early intervention, such as MHFA training, become critical.
This report is not just a summary of numbers—it reflects voices, experiences, and a shared commitment to better mental health outcomes. It also emphasizes our ongoing efforts to evaluate our programs systematically. The feedback process helps us identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement, ensuring our training remains relevant, impactful, and aligned with the needs of Indian communities.
As we move forward, MHFA India commits to publishing this feedback report annually. We see it as an evolving tool that will help us continuously learn, adapt, and deepen our impact. We thank every course participant, facilitator, and partner who has contributed to this journey. Your feedback fuels our mission. Together, let’s continue to break the stigma, promote early intervention, and make mental health a national priority.
