What MHFA does not do

We do not teach people to become therapists, diagnose or provide counselling but we do teach people to understand mental illnesses and its symptoms, to reach confidently to the one in need and know how to help even in crises.

Relevance to the Indian scenario

The Standard Mental Health First Aid module has been through a process of adaptation, before being offered to the public. Thirteen senior professionals participated in a 6-month process contributing to the acculturation of the module, specific to the Indian culture and polity. Psychologists, social workers, researchers, academicians and care givers coming from rural and urban communities, shared their experiences and helped in the adaptation of the module. The Standard Mental Health First Aid module has its 1st Indian Edition.
